Set behind a classic 1950’s facade, Shadow’s grand vaulted dining room bridges the gap between fondly remembered Italian restaurants and a new wave of creativity.
From an afternoon aperitivo to something a little more serious after dark, Shadow is a haven to escape the bustle of Northbridge and relax into classic Italian fare, cocktails and a carefully curated wine list.
Nestled in the heart of the arts precinct, we love and support our vibrant neighbourhood whilst also being the perfect retreat for pre- or post-show drinks and dining.
Walk in anytime. We'll find a spot for you to drink or dine at one of our high tables, the chef's pass or the booths and tables of the main dining room. We also happily take bookings.
Our name:
Beyond the ever changing play of light and shadow within our dining room, ‘Ombra’ which means ‘shadow’ in Italian, also means ‘a little glass of wine’ in Veneto dialect.
If you visit one of the many local taverns, or ‘bacari’, in Venice, you can hear Venetians ask the bar tender for a ‘shadow.'
